Brief Biography:
You can find out most of the stuff
you could want about me on the various pages inside. However, I wanted
to tell you a little bit about myself. I am a bald guy with 2 college
degrees. The first degree was a BA in History, and the second an MA in
Student Affairs Counseling. I have had around 15 telephone interview and
visited 4 campus for interviews (and been invited to two others.) So far
I have not been able to land a job.
I always ask for professional
development advice after a job interview, so I know what I can improve
on that would have helped me land a job. The last two interviews have
provided me with what I can work on in the future and what I can tell
future interviewers when they ask about my negative qualities. The first
of the two told me I was too honest. They said that I am willing to
openly discuss myself and my weaknesses too much. The second told me I
care too much and am too friendly. They told me I care too much about
the students and everyone really likes me, and that is not the type of
person they were looking for.
So now that you have that little
bit about me recently, here's a little bit about my past. I attended
Clendenin,
Glenville, Kenton, Elkview, and
Pinch Elementary Schools
in WV. I went to junior high at Elkview Jr. High for two years, when it
was switched to Elkview
Middle School and our 9th grade class was shipped to
Herbert Hoover High
School where we were feared. The principal had warned the
Juniors and Seniors the new, first freshman class were not to be
bothered or harassed, and the Sophomores were too timid...so we had
control of the school our four years there, and made a big impact in the
early-to-mid 1990's.
I considered several different
colleges and received scholarship offers from several (University
of Southern California, University of
Cincinnati, Concord College,
WV State College, and
Trinity College; an All-Woman's
college who just received my grades and did not pay attention to names)
but chose Marshall University in
Huntington, WV. I'm glad I did, becuase here is where I enjoyed my life
and found everything I wanted to do. I have met (and in some cases
befriended) more "celebrities" than most people do in their life. I
became a professional wrestler and commentator. I met my best
friends and my wife. I got great life experiences, and have had an
awesome time...almost all because of the
Office of Student
Activities. If you read this and are going to go to
college...get involved and find your place! It will be the best
time of your life! |
