Cedar Rapids (IA) Fillmore Elementary   [summer recreation programs gave life purpose]
Iowa City (IA) Henry Sabin Elementary   [JD period; ran around UI campus w/o knowing what it was!]
West Branch (IA) Elementary   [Hoover's birthplace; noticed social class; grilled chess tasted so good!]

Boone (IA) Elementary   [organized football, only one team 1st-8th grades; we were tackling dummies!]

Let's Hear It for Public Education.  I Can't Complain.

"What you have not absorbed by the time you reach
the age of eighteen you will never absorb. It is finished.
You will be able to develop what you have absorbed.
You will be able to make something or  nothing at all of it,
but your time for absorption is over and for the rest of your
life you will be branded by your childhood."

                            Belgian novelist Georges Simenon
