Bruce D'Arcus' FOAF description Metadata about Bruce D'Arcus encoded using the Friend-Of-A-Friend Vocabulary Bruce D'Arcus Mr Bruce D'Arcus darcusb Male My work focuses on the interactions of symbolic and material dimensions of power, identity and space. This encompasses two broad but interlocking foci. On one hand, I am interested in the micro-politics of urban public space. On the other, I am interested in the larger scale aspects of state territoriality. At the same time, I am interested in how different kinds of spatial media—from communications, to law, to the conduits that facilitate the mobility of people and things—serve to collapse the simple binaries that oppose local and global, state and society. The focus on public space and on state territoriality thus reflects an integrated theoretical and conceptual project that seeks to understand how power is spatialized and unsettled in politically, socially, and geographically uneven ways. Boundaries of Dissent: Protest and State Power in the Media Age 2001-2005 This project explored the spatial dimensions of state power and anti-statist dissent. Sovereignty, Law and the Spatial Architecture of Rights 2006-current This project examines the relationship between law, space and state power. b8e83bae52faea7fe2b69218745428b21f4c738f 068381146b67132d6fbb30c9b8b4080771171ac1 PhD Syracuse University 2001 MA University of Colorado 1997 BA University of California at Los Angeles 1994 CiteULike: darcusb's library Bookmarks to scholary papers on CiteULike Metadata about Bruce D'Arcus' publications Metadata about Bruce D'Arcus' presentations Bibliographic References
