Welcome to my Jaromir Jagr Home Page! I have been an avid collector of Jaromir Jagr hockey cards and memoribilia for some time now. I also collect Internet photos, videos, and various items relating to Jagr that I will post here as they are relevant. Jaromir was a finalist for the Hart Memorial Trophy which is the National Hockey League's annual award "to the player adjudged to be the most valuable to his team." Joe Sakic won the trophy. It was the fifth time that Jagr was a finalist for the award; he has won the trophy only once (1998-99).  Jaromir did receive his fifth Art Ross Trophy as the league's leading scorer. Jagr finished the season with 121 points. Previously, Jagr was awarded the Art Ross Trophy for the 1994-95, 1997-98, 1998-99, and the 1999-00 seasons.  Jaromir was also a finalist for the 2001 Lester B. Pearson Award as the National Hockey League's outstanding player. The award is voted on by the members of the National Hockey League Players' Association (NHLPA) and was also awarded to Joe Sakic.

April 26, 2001 - Jaromir Jagr was held out of the third period of Thursday's game against the Buffalo Sabres.  After the game, the Penguins said that Jagr suffered a charley horse.  His status for the remainder of the playoff series will be determined later.

April 2, 2001 - Jaromir Jagr was named the National Hockey League's Player of the Month for March 2001.  Jagr had 15 goals and 16 assists in 15 games during the month. February 4, 2001 - Jaromir Jagr did not play in the NHL All-Star game today as a precautionary measure.  Jagr was suffering from concussion-like symptoms and a sore neck in the aftermath of the Penguins/Flyers game on January 31st.  Jagr was advised not to fly to Denver for the festivities.  Instead, he remained in Pittsburgh to undergo accupuncture treatments.  His status is being listed by the Penguins as day-to-day.

January 31, 2001 - Jaromir Jagr left Wednesday's game against the Philadelphia Flyers after the second period. Jagr was checked hard into the boards by Flyers winger Todd Fedoruk in the first period. He was to be examined on Thursday, at which time his availability for the NHL All-Star game could be determined.

1999-2000 News:
June 15, 2000 - The National Hockey League held their annual awards show tonight. Jaromir was a finalist for the Hart Memorial Trophy which is the National Hockey League's annual award "to the player adjudged to be the most valuable to his team." Jagr finished in second place in the balloting, one vote shy of the winning total for Chris Pronger of the St. Louis Blues. It was the fourth time that Jagr was a finalist for the award; he has won the trophy only once.  Jaromir did receive his fourth Art Ross Trophy as the league's leading scorer. Jagr finished the season with 96 points. Previously, Jagr was awarded the Art Ross Trophy for the 1994-95, 1997-98, and the 1998-99 seasons.  Earlier in the day, Jaromir was named winner of the 2000 Lester B. Pearson Award as the National Hockey League's outstanding player. The award is voted on by the members of the National Hockey League Players' Association (NHLPA). There was also some speculation that Jagr may have sustained a concussion and/or a shoulder injury in the incident.

March 19, 2000 - Jaromir Jagr returned to action tonight against the New York Rangers.  Jagr notched three assists to help the Penguins defeat the Rangers 5-4 and to climb into 7th place in the Eastern Conference playoff standings.  Jagr had planned to play approximately ten minutes in the game, but ended up logging over seventeen minutes of ice time.

March 15, 2000 - Jaromir Jagr skated in full gear for the last fifteen minutes of the Penguins' team practice today. Jagr indicated that he was feeling better and that he would try to play sometime in the next week.  He has targeted the Penguins game versus the New York Rangers on Sunday, March 19, 2000 as the date for his return.  If he is not able to return that night, Jagr hopes to play later in the week - either Tuesday, March 21, 2000 against the New York Islanders or Thursday, March 23, 2000 against the Altanta Thrashers. For the first few games, Jagr plans to play in a limited capacity - around ten minutes per game..

February 29, 2000 - Jaromir Jagr was released from UPMC Montefiore Hospital last night (February 28, 2000).  Jagr had sufficiently recovered from surgery last week to remove a hematoma from his left thigh.  Jagr was to begin physical therapy to help recondition and regain strength in both of his legs immediately. There is no firm timetable for his return but estimates are that Jagr will miss at least another 2-3 weeks.

February 25, 2000 - Jaromir Jagr underwent minor surgery to remove a hematoma (blood clot) from his left thigh. Jagr had swelling located outside of his blood veins, in a small compartment in his leg. Dr. Charles Burke was able to dissect into the compartment of Jagr's leg where the swelling was located and release the clot. Jagr was slated to remain at UPMC Montefiore Hospital through the weekend to monitor the condition of his leg. Jagr originally suffered the leg injury (a thigh contusion) on February 16th against the Buffalo Sabres.

February 23, 2000 - Jaromir Jagr was admitted to a Pittsburgh area hospital on Wednesday for observation of a thigh contusion that Jagr suffered on February 16th against the Buffalo Sabres.  Reports are that doctors were concerned with the amount of swelling in Jagr's left thigh. This injury is unrelated to the hamstring injury that Jagr suffered on February 21st against the Lightning. Jagr's right hamstring was injured in a collision that night.

February 21, 2000 - Jaromir Jagr left Monday's game against the Tampa Bay Lightning in the second period after after a collision with Todd Warriner. Jagr said after the game that he heard his hamstring "crack" during the collision.  The diagnosis from the Penguins is that Jagr strained his hamstring and may be out anywhere from one week to one month. Jagr was placed on the Injured List where he must remain for at least one week.  Jagr returned to Pittsburgh after the game to undergo accupuncture treatments for the injury.

February 6, 2000 - Jaromir appeared in his 6th National Hockey League All-Star game as a member of the World team. January 15, 2000 - Jaromir Jagr left Saturday's game against the Nashville Predators in the second period after scoring a breakaway goal. It wasn't immediately clear what was wrong with Jagr, but after the game, Penguins' officials stated that Jagr left the game with a strained rib cage muscle and that he was likely to miss at least one game.  Penguins' trainer Mark Mortland was quoted as saying that Jagr would be "lucky" if he missed only one game with the injury.

January 8, 2000 - Jaromir was voted as a starter for the 1999-2000 National Hockey League All-Star game as a right winger on the World All-Star team.  Jagr finished first in total votes. Jaromir finished with highest vote total for any player since the inception of fan ballotting.  Jagr was also the first player to eclipse the one million vote mark with a total of 1,020,736 votes. This will be Jagr's eighth All-Star game starting assignment.  Jagr has only played in five previous matches, missing two due to injuries.  The All-Star game will be televised by ABC on Sunday, February 6, 2000 at 2:30 PM from the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

December 30, 1999 - Jaromir Jagr notched his 6th career hat trick against the New York Islanders.  Jagr added four assists on the night as the Penguins enjoyed a 9-3 victory over the Islanders.  The seven points scored by Jagr in the game was a career high.  Jagr previously had scored six points against the Philadelphia Flyers on November 16, 1993.

November 16, 1999 - Jaromir Jagr's fifteen game point scoring streak was stopped tonight in the Penguins' game against the Buffalo Sabres. Jagr left the game midway through the first period with what was termed a groin injury.  His status will be day-to-day. Jagr had been the only player in the NHL to register at least one point in every one of his team's games to start the season.

November 15, 1999 - Jaromir Jagr was named the National Hockey League's Player of the Week for the period of November 8-14, 1999.  Jagr had 3 goals and 6 assists in three games during the week, extending his point scoring streak to 15 games.  It is the third time in Jagr's career that he has been named Player of the Week.  His most recent honor came during the last week of January in 1999.

September 4, 1999 - Jaromir reports to training camp at the Penguins' Southpointe facility sporting a radical new haircut.  Gone are the long locks of hair that have become Jagr's trademark over the past nine seasons. September 12, 1998 - Veterans reported to Pittsburgh Penguins' training camp at their Southpointe facility today. Jaromir arrived on time amidst numerous questions: will he be traded? Most importantly, though, Jagr's top priority was getting onto the ice.

Unfortunately, this was the only trophy that Jagr took home from the event. However, Dominik Hasek of the Buffalo Sabres won the Hart Trophy for the second consecutive year. This is the second time in his career that Jagr has finished as the runner-up for the Hart Trophy.
