Welcome to my Jaromir Jagr Home Page! I have been an avid collector
of Jaromir Jagr hockey cards and memoribilia for some time now. I also
collect Internet photos, videos, and various items relating to Jagr that
I will post here as they are relevant. I will also continue to track Jaromir's
game by game performance for the upcoming season, much like I did for the
1998-1999 season. Please check back after each game to view Jagr's
stats!

July 11, 2001 - The Pittsburgh Penguins traded right wing Jaromir
Jagr and defenseman Frantisek Kucera to the Washington Capitals in exchange
for center Kris Beech, forward Michal Sivek, defenseman Russ Lupaschuk,
and future considerations (expected to be cash payments totaling $5 million
over the next two years), thus ending his eleven year storybook career
with the Penguins.
June 14, 2001 - The National Hockey League held their annual
awards show tonight. Jaromir was a finalist for the Hart Memorial Trophy
which is the National Hockey League's annual award "to the player adjudged
to be the most valuable to his team." Joe Sakic won the trophy. It was
the fifth time that Jagr was a finalist for the award; he has won the trophy
only once (1998-99). Jaromir did receive his fifth Art Ross Trophy
as the league's leading scorer. Jagr finished the season with 121 points.
Previously, Jagr was awarded the Art Ross Trophy for the 1994-95, 1997-98,
1998-99, and the 1999-00 seasons. Jaromir was also a finalist for
the 2001 Lester B. Pearson Award as the National Hockey League's outstanding
player. The award is voted on by the members of the National Hockey League
Players' Association (NHLPA) and was also awarded to Joe Sakic.
April 26, 2001 - Jaromir Jagr was held out of the third period
of Thursday's game against the Buffalo Sabres. After the game, the
Penguins said that Jagr suffered a charley horse. His status for
the remainder of the playoff series will be determined later.
April 2, 2001 - Jaromir Jagr was named the National
Hockey League's Player of the Month for March 2001. Jagr had 15 goals
and 16 assists in 15 games during the month. It is the sixth time in his
career that he has been named Player of the Month. His most recent honor
was for his performance in November 1999.
February 4, 2001 - Jaromir Jagr did not play in the NHL All-Star
game today as a precautionary measure. Jagr was suffering from concussion-like
symptoms and a sore neck in the aftermath of the Penguins/Flyers game on
January 31st. Jagr was advised not to fly to Denver for the festivities.
Instead, he remained in Pittsburgh to undergo accupuncture treatments.
His status is being listed by the Penguins as day-to-day.
January 31, 2001 - Jaromir Jagr left Wednesday's game against
the Philadelphia Flyers after the second period. Jagr was checked hard
into the boards by Flyers winger Todd Fedoruk in the first period. Jagr
remained in the game afterward, but did not take the ice for the third
period. The Penguins said that Jagr's absence was "a precaution after suffering
dizziness." He was to be examined on Thursday, at which time his availability
for the NHL All-Star game could be determined.
January 13, 2001 - Jaromir was voted as a starter for the 2000-2001
National Hockey League All-Star game as a right winger on the World All-Star
team. Jagr finished first in total votes. Jaromir finished with 275,395
votes. This will be Jagr's ninth All-Star game starting assignment.
Jagr has only played in six previous matches, missing two due to injuries.
The All-Star game will be televised by ABC on Sunday, February 4, 2001
at 2:30 PM from the Pepsi Center in Denver, Colorado.
December 30, 2000 - Jaromir Jagr recorded the 1000th point of
his career against the Ottawa Senators. Jagr finished the night with
two goals and an assist for a total of 1,002 career points. The Penguins
defeated the Senators by a score of 5-3.
December 16, 2000 - Jaromir Jagr recorded a natural hat trick
against the Montreal Canadiens. It was the 8th career hat trick for Jagr
and his second of this season. The Penguins tied the Canadiens 4-4.
November 13, 2000 - Jaromir Jagr recorded the 399th and 400th
goals of his career against the Colorado Avalanche. The Penguins were defeated
by the Avalanche by a score of 3-2 in overtime.
October 14, 2000 - Jaromir Jagr recorded the first four goal
game of his career against the New York Rangers. It was the 7th career
hat trick for Jagr. The Penguins defeated the Rangers by a score of 8-6.
October 7, 2000 - Jaromir Jagr began defense of his scoring
title against the Nashville Predators in Tokyo, Japan. Jagr registered
a power-play assist in the second period for his first point of the season
in the Penguins' 3-1 loss to the Predators.
June 15, 2000 - The National Hockey League held their annual awards
show tonight. Jaromir was a finalist for the Hart Memorial Trophy which
is the National Hockey League's annual award "to the player adjudged to
be the most valuable to his team." Jagr finished in second place in the
balloting, one vote shy of the winning total for Chris Pronger of the St.
Louis Blues. It was the fourth time that Jagr was a finalist for the award;
he has won the trophy only once. Jaromir did receive his fourth Art
Ross Trophy as the league's leading scorer. Jagr finished the season with
96 points. Previously, Jagr was awarded the Art Ross Trophy for the 1994-95,
1997-98, and the 1998-99 seasons. Earlier in the day, Jaromir was
named winner of the 2000 Lester B. Pearson Award as the National Hockey
League's outstanding player. The award is voted on by the members of the
National Hockey League Players' Association (NHLPA). It was Jagr's second
consecutive Pearson Award.
April 1, 2000 - Jaromir Jagr returned to action
this afternoon against the Philadelphia Flyers. Jagr did not score
as the Penguins were defeated by the Flyers 3-2.
March 26, 2000 - Jaromir Jagr left Sunday's game against the
Philadelphia Flyers in the first period after being hit from behind and
having his head driven into the glass by Dan McGillis. After the
game, the Penguins said that Jagr suffered a bruised upper back.
His status will be determined later. There was also some speculation that
Jagr may have sustained a concussion and/or a shoulder injury in the incident.
March 19, 2000 - Jaromir Jagr returned to action
tonight against the New York Rangers. Jagr notched three assists
to help the Penguins defeat the Rangers 5-4 and to climb into 7th place
in the Eastern Conference playoff standings. Jagr had planned to
play approximately ten minutes in the game, but ended up logging over seventeen
minutes of ice time.
March 15, 2000 - Jaromir Jagr skated in full gear for the last
fifteen minutes of the Penguins' team practice today. Jagr indicated that
he was feeling better and that he would try to play sometime in the next
week. He has targeted the Penguins game versus the New York Rangers
on Sunday, March 19, 2000 as the date for his return. If he is not
able to return that night, Jagr hopes to play later in the week - either
Tuesday, March 21, 2000 against the New York Islanders or Thursday, March
23, 2000 against the Altanta Thrashers. For the first few games, Jagr plans
to play in a limited capacity - around ten minutes per game..
February 29, 2000 - Jaromir Jagr was released from UPMC Montefiore
Hospital last night (February 28, 2000). Jagr had sufficiently recovered
from surgery last week to remove a hematoma from his left thigh.
Jagr was to begin physical therapy to help recondition and regain strength
in both of his legs immediately. There is no firm timetable for his return
but estimates are that Jagr will miss at least another 2-3 weeks.
February 25, 2000 - Jaromir Jagr underwent minor surgery to
remove a hematoma (blood clot) from his left thigh. Jagr had swelling located
outside of his blood veins, in a small compartment in his leg. Dr. Charles
Burke was able to dissect into the compartment of Jagr's leg where the
swelling was located and release the clot. Jagr was slated to remain at
UPMC Montefiore Hospital through the weekend to monitor the condition of
his leg. Jagr originally suffered the leg injury (a thigh contusion) on
February 16th against the Buffalo Sabres.
February 23, 2000 - Jaromir Jagr was admitted to a Pittsburgh
area hospital on Wednesday for observation of a thigh contusion that Jagr
suffered on February 16th against the Buffalo Sabres. Reports are
that doctors were concerned with the amount of swelling in Jagr's left
thigh. This injury is unrelated to the hamstring injury that Jagr suffered
on February 21st against the Lightning. Jagr's right hamstring was injured
in a collision that night.
February 21, 2000 - Jaromir Jagr left Monday's game against
the Tampa Bay Lightning in the second period after after a collision with
Todd Warriner. Jagr said after the game that he heard his hamstring "crack"
during the collision. The diagnosis from the Penguins is that Jagr
strained his hamstring and may be out anywhere from one week to one month.
Jagr was placed on the Injured List where he must remain for at least one
week. Jagr returned to Pittsburgh after the game to undergo accupuncture
treatments for the injury.
February 6, 2000 - Jaromir appeared in his 6th National Hockey
League All-Star game as a member of the World team. At the start of the
game, Jagr and Paul Kariya took the ceremonial face-off with Wayne Gretzky
dropping the puck. Jagr went on to tally a goal and an assist as the World
team defeated the North America All-Stars by a score of 9-4.
January 27, 2000 - Jaromir Jagr returned to action
after missing four games with a rib injury/stomach pull. Jagr scored
the game's opening goal on the power play as the Penguins defeated the
Atlanta Thrashers 4-1.
January 15, 2000 - Jaromir Jagr left Saturday's game against
the Nashville Predators in the second period after scoring a breakaway
goal. It wasn't immediately clear what was wrong with Jagr, but after the
game, Penguins' officials stated that Jagr left the game with a strained
rib cage muscle and that he was likely to miss at least one game.
Penguins' trainer Mark Mortland was quoted as saying that Jagr would be
"lucky" if he missed only one game with the injury.
January 8, 2000 - Jaromir was voted as a starter for the 1999-2000
National Hockey League All-Star game as a right winger on the World All-Star
team. Jagr finished first in total votes. Jaromir finished with highest
vote total for any player since the inception of fan ballotting.
Jagr was also the first player to eclipse the one million vote mark with
a total of 1,020,736 votes. This will be Jagr's eighth All-Star game starting
assignment. Jagr has only played in five previous matches, missing
two due to injuries. The All-Star game will be televised by ABC on
Sunday, February 6, 2000 at 2:30 PM from the Air Canada Centre in Toronto,
Ontario, Canada.
December 30, 1999 - Jaromir Jagr notched his 6th career hat
trick against the New York Islanders. Jagr added four assists on
the night as the Penguins enjoyed a 9-3 victory over the Islanders.
The seven points scored by Jagr in the game was a career high. Jagr
previously had scored six points against the Philadelphia Flyers on November
16, 1993.
December 1, 1999 - Jaromir Jagr was named the National Hockey
League's Player of the Month for November 1999. Jagr had 12 goals
and 11 assists in 12 games during the month. It is the fifth time in his
career that he has been named Player of the Month. His most recent honor
was for his performance in March 1999.
November 26, 1999 - Jaromir Jagr notched his 5th career hat
trick against the Ottawa Senators. Jagr's natural hat trick in the
first period was his first hat trick since November 30, 1996. Of
Jagr's five hat tricks, three have come against the Boston Bruins and the
other two have come at the expense of the Ottawa Senators. Jagr's
assist on Matthew Barnaby's goal in the second period of tonight's game
was his 900th career National Hockey League point.
November 16, 1999 - Jaromir Jagr's fifteen game point scoring
streak was stopped tonight in the Penguins' game against the Buffalo Sabres.
Jagr left the game midway through the first period with what was termed
a groin injury. His status will be day-to-day. Jagr had been the
only player in the NHL to register at least one point in every one of his
team's games to start the season.
November 15, 1999 - Jaromir Jagr was named the National Hockey
League's Player of the Week for the period of November 8-14, 1999.
Jagr had 3 goals and 6 assists in three games during the week, extending
his point scoring streak to 15 games. It is the third time in Jagr's
career that he has been named Player of the Week. His most recent
honor came during the last week of January in 1999.
September 4, 1999 - Jaromir reports to training camp at the
Penguins' Southpointe facility sporting a radical new haircut. Gone
are the long locks of hair that have become Jagr's trademark over the past
nine seasons. Jagr said that he wanted an "Italian haircut" after spending
some time there this summer. Since Italians wear their hair short,
according to Jagr, he decided to try a new hair style for the upcoming
season.
June 24, 1999 - The National Hockey League held their annual awards
show tonight. Jaromir was awarded the Hart Memorial Trophy which is the
National Hockey League's annual award "to the player adjudged to be the
most valuable to his team." It was the third time that Jagr was a finalist
for the award, but it was the first time that he has won the award. Furthermore,
Jaromir collected his third Art Ross Trophy as the league's leading scorer.
Jagr finished the season with 127 points. Previously, Jagr was awarded
the Art Ross Trophy for the 1994-95 and the 1997-98 seasons. Earlier
in the day, Jaromir was named winner of the 1999 Lester B. Pearson Award
as the National Hockey League's outstanding player. The award is voted
on by the members of the National Hockey League Players' Association (NHLPA).
April 18, 1999 - Jaromir ended the career of Wayne Gretzky with
an overtime goal in a 2-1 victory over the New York Rangers . While
the storied career of The Great One ended with his retirement after the
game, many people have called Jagr's goal significant as it may represent
the passing of the torch from The Great One to Jaromir.

April 1, 1999 - Jaromir Jagr was named the National
Hockey League's Player of the Month for March 1999. Jagr had 9 goals
and 18 assists in 15 games during the month. It is the fourth time in his
career that he has been named Player of the Month. His most recent honor
was for his performance in March 1998.
February 15, 1999 - Jaromir celebrated his 27th birthday in
grand fashion with a goal and three assists as the Penguins defeated the
Washington Capitals 7-3 at the Civic Arena.
February 1, 1999 - Jaromir Jagr was named the National Hockey
League's Player of the Week for the period of January 25-31, 1999.
Jagr had 3 goals and 7 assists in four games during the week. It
is the second time in Jagr's career that he has been named Player of the
Week. His previous honor came during the second week of February
in 1995.
January 31, 1999 - Jaromir recorded his 800th career National
Hockey League point when he intercepted a pass and scored on a 35 foot
wrist shot with just 3 seconds remaining in the 2nd period.
January 24, 1999 - Jaromir served as Captain of the World All-Star
team in the 1999 National Hockey League All-Star game. Jagr served opposite
of Wayne Gretzky who was named Captain of the North America All-Star team.
At the start of the game, Jagr and Gretzky took the ceremonial face-off
with Maurice "Rocket" Richard dropping the puck.

January 6, 1999 - Jaromir was voted as the starter for the 1999
National Hockey League All-Star game as a right winger on the World All-Star
team. Jagr finished second only to fellow countryman Dominik Hasek
of the Buffalo Sabres in total votes. Jaromir finished with 395,683 votes,
enough to earn his seventh All-Star game starting assignment. Jagr
has only played in four previous matches, missing two due to injuries.
The All-Star game will be televised by Fox on January 24, 1999 at 4 PM.
September 16, 1998 - Jaromir attended a White House reception
for Czech Republic President Vaclav Havel. According to published reports,
while in Washington, D.C., Jagr had an interesting trip. He tried to check
in to the wrong hotel which caused him to be late and subsequently miss
lunch with Vice-President Al Gore. That night he contemplated dancing with
the First Lady after dinner but decided that he did not want to disco.
(thanks, Triblive.com!)

September 12, 1998 - Veterans reported to Pittsburgh
Penguins' training camp at their Southpointe facility today. Jaromir arrived
on time amidst numerous questions: will he be traded? (trade rumors have
the New York Rangers interested in Jagr), how will he handle the departure
of Ron Francis?, is Jagr ready to wear the C on his jersey as the Penguins'
newest captain? Most importantly, though, Jagr's top priority was getting
onto the ice.
June 25, 1998 - The National Hockey League held their annual
awards show tonight. Jaromir collected his second Art Ross Trophy as the
league's leading scorer. Jagr finished the season with 102 points and was
the only player to finish with over 100 points. Previously, Jagr was awarded
the Art Ross Trophy for the 1994-95 season.
Unfortunately, this was the only trophy that Jagr took home from the
event. He was finalist for the Hart Memorial Trophy which is the National
Hockey League's annual award "to the player adjudged to be the most valuable
to his team." However, Dominik Hasek of the Buffalo Sabres won the Hart
Trophy for the second consecutive year. This is the second time in his
career that Jagr has finished as the runner-up for the Hart Trophy. He
was a finalist for the award for the 1994-1995 season, but Eric Lindros
of the Philadelphia Flyers won the award.
