Mr. James Clark and Ms. Charlotte “Lottie” Moon
By Grant Cooper
January 26th 1849
Mr. Robert S. Moon and Mrs. Virginia Bethel Moon are pleased to announce the marriage of their daughter Charlotte Lottie Moon on January 30, in the year 1849 at 220 East Main Street. The reception will be held in the parlor at our home in Oxford and we invite all our wedding guests to stay and celebrate this joyous occasion with the Moon and Clark families.
Our beloved “Lottie” will be marrying Mr. James Clark of Jones Station in Hamilton, Ohio. James Clark is a highly respected judge of the Common Pleas Court in Butler County, Ohio. James Clark is one of the most able men on the Ohio bar and a powerful supporter of fair Dixie.
P.S., I am sure that you are all well aware of what happened at “Lottie’s” attempted marriage to Ambrose E. Burnside from nearby Liberty, Indiana a couple of months ago. However, the Moon’s can personally promise that this time around our “Lottie” will wed. We have spoken with James Clark who has heard of Lottie’s escapades at her last wedding and has promised to make sure this wedding is seen through to the end. Trust me friends there will be a wedding at the Moon house January 30, in the year 1849. |
