Kimberly Hamlin joined the faculty in American Studies and history after completing her PhD in American Studies at the University of Texas at Austin.  Her current project, “Beyond Adam's Rib: How Darwinian Evolution Redefined Gender and Influenced American Feminist Thought, 1870-1920,” explores the U.S. reception of evolution through the lens of gender.  Professor Hamlin has also published an article on the origins of the Miss America Pageant, researched the history of the Girl Scouts, and served as historical consultant on the PBS documentary "Troop 1500."Her teaching interests include women’s and gender history, science and technology in American culture, and encouraging students to engage with local history, their communities, and public culture
