PRACTICA

Group Psychotherapy, Miami University Psychology Clinic, Fall 2007.

Co-facilitated an interpersonal-process therapy group which met weekly for 90 minutes. Also performed intake interviews, administration and interpretation of the SCL-90, and on-call duties for emergency intakes. Received two hour weekly group supervision. Presented treatment and progress summaries.

Ullman Experiential Dream Group, Miami University, Spring 2007

Facilitated six undergraduates in a semester-long group that met weekly to share and discuss significant dreams as part of an undergraduate psychology capstone course.

 

Camp Counselor, Ramapo for Children, Rhinebeck, NY, Summer 2004

Received training in conflict prevention, intervention, and resolution. Attended lectures on autism and learning disabilities. Completed behavioral evaluations. Responsible for 6 campers, ages 12-16, with a wide range of special needs, including verbal and non-verbal Autism, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder and learning disabilities.

Participated in weekly two hour meetings to discuss and critique ongoing research projects related to Experiential Personal Construct Psychotherapy.

Volunteer assistant in the BIA neighborhood assessment project, conducted in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. Collected and entered data on houses in Broadmoor New Orleans related to structural damage severity and occupancy status.

Title: The Experience of Psychotherapy: A Qualitative Inquiry of ClientsÕ Perspectives

Designed a qualitative study to investigate the experience of psychotherapy from the clientÕs perspective. Conducted, transcribed and qualitatively analyzed 12 in-depth interviews.

Research Assistant, The Richmond Fellowship, London, UK, Spring 2005

With supervisor, designed and conducted a qualitative study of service usersÕ views of mental health services. Duties included conducting a literature review, developing an interview structure and conducting semi-structured interviews with mental health service users. Received training in qualitative analysis.

Teaching Assistant, Miami University, Fall 2007

Assisted Dr. Vaishali Raval with PSY 345: Child Psychopathology and Developmental Disability. Lead and contributed to lecture and discussion. Provided critical feedback to students on coursework.

 

Volunteer Tutor, McDonogh 35 High School, New Orleans, LA, Summer 2006

High school math tutor for the Extended Year Program following the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Prepared students for the Louisiana Education Assessment Program (LEAP) test. Students need to pass this test in order to graduate from high school.

Tutored for Psychology 203: Introduction to Statistics and Research Design. Served as one of two tutors for a class of 30 students. Provided individual instruction for students and organized and conducted group study sessions.
