Western Woods is one of my favorite places. It really hasn't changed much
in the 23 years that I have been coming here. There were many more beech trees
back then but mostly the area continues on as it always has. Two trails run
west from Four Mile creek to the Western Woods and the main North South trail
through Western woods continues south down the hill to Collins Run(creek)
and on to Hwy 27 and Peffer park. A old sewer line service road with large
concrete manholes runs from behind the water treatment plant all the way back
to Collins Run. There is another service road that follows Collins run west
towards 27 but is mostly overgrown.
