The Harry T. Wilks Leadership Institute Dr. Thomas Klak has been teaching in the Wilks Institute for several years as part of a two-year program called Shaping Sustainable Communities. As part of the Acting Locally project, he and his class study the rural Butler County area. One of his classes within this sequence, termed “Shaping Sustainable Communities" developed a local food guide to encourage community members to buy their food locally through farmers and farmers' markets. The book was distributed at Miami University and in the Oxford community.   Growing Closer: A guide to local food in Butler CountyCover of Local Food Guide The guide includes profiles of local farmers and the products they sell, a list of farmers' markets and recipes with local ingredients. Students from the class who developed and wrote the guide are Whittney Barth, Katherine Croft, Josh Dahn, Heather Hillenbrand, Ben Menker, John Obrycki and Jennifer Woolum.
