RESEARCH CONSENT FORM

PLEASE READ AND COMPLETE BEFORE MOVING ON

1.  You are invited to take part in a scientific study conducted by Ms. Amanda Johnston, Mr. Jason Lanter, and Dr. Amanda Diekman in the Department of Psychology at Miami University of Ohio.  This project has been approved by the Psychology DRB Subcommittee of the Miami University Institutional Review Board for Human Subjects.  Questions or concerns about this study may be directed to Ms. Johnston (johnstam@muohio.edu), Mr. Lanter (lanterjr@muohio.edu), or Dr. Diekman (diekmaa@muohio.edu). Questions or concerns regarding your rights as a participant may be directed to the Office for the Advancement of Research and Scholarship (513-529-3734, HumanSubjects@MUOhio.edu).

2.  The purpose of this study is to collect information about the perception of groups and roles in society, specifically those social roles in work and family. Completion should take approximately 20 minutes.

3.  There are no foreseeable risks associated with participating in this study.  You are free to discontinue participation in the study at any time without penalty or loss of benefits. You may also freely decline to answer any of the questions asked of you.

4.  The responses that you provide today will be kept completely anonymous. At no time will your name or any other identifying information be associated with any of the data that you generate today. In addition, the researcher will never identify you personally in any report of this research. Within these restrictions, results of the study will be made available to you upon request.  We also encourage you to use commonsense precautions typical of Internet use (e.g., make sure that your browser is closed when you leave your computer).

5.  Your participation in this study does not guarantee any beneficial results, but you may gain a better understanding of the methodology of psychological science.  Additionally, you should gain a greater understanding of your perceptions of social roles for men and women.
