This photograph shows me doing what I most love: looking at plants in their natural environments. Here, I am looking at the leatherfern, Acrostichum danaeifolium, on North Andros Island in the Bahamas.
Currently, I am a graduate student in the Botany Department of Miami University, Oxford, Ohio. My interests are the systematics and evolution of the seed-free vascular plants, with an emphasis on the leptosporangiate ferns. For my dissertation research, I am conducting a morphological and molecular phylogenetic study of the tropical cheilanthoid fern genus Adiantopsis Fée. My goal is to complete a monograph/revision of the genus and to resolve its relationships to old world Cheilanthes.
