This marks my fifth year in San Domingo being held under the chains of slavery. Looking back, I can hardly remember any other life but one of hardship and subjugation. For months there has been talk of a man named William Wilberforce, who seems to understand our plight. He brought a bill to the House of Commons in order to abolish this nightmare of slavery. Sadly, the rest of England is not as wise or caring as Wilberforce.

Now I feel as if we've been backed into a corner. Whisperings of a revolt have spread through our community like wildfire, and tomorrow morning, we will rise up against our oppressors and reclaim the liberty which has been stolen from us all.
