Today I noticed the changing of a country. I was sitting here when the servants came and told me the news. Apparently an angry mob stormed the Bastille prison. My immediate concern was where would I get my cognac. They always had such an excellent vintage there . . . . Marie is concerned for her family (silly woman). She should have not a care for as long as she is here . . . she is safe . . . I think I shall call her now, for I tire. For god's sake, she better not spill my cognac . . . .

Mon Dieu! Marie, la salope petite, went to Versailles on vacation to visit her family and came back with the King. Apparently the flighty little hens of our country decided to march for bread for their poor, helpless families. What a shame; perhaps I could have contributed something towards the cause. . . . I think not!

I desire to travel to Vienna to witness the premier of the new Mozart opera. His music has such a fine touch to it that it can only truly be appreciated by those as affluent as I. Marie begs me to take her. I seriously doubt such a gentleman as I am would be seen with a common chambermaid on the streets. Ha! Marie . . . my cognac!!
