After growing up in Ohio and South Carolina, I earned my BA in Psychology from the Univ. of Cincinnati in 1990 and my Ph.D. from Indiana Univ. in 1995. During college, I held many jobs including secretary, toy store employee, newspaper reporter, and summer camp counselor in Cincinnati and in Wolfeboro, NH. Following grad school, I was a psychology professor at Penn State (1995-97) and Michigan State (1997-2000) before coming to Miami Univ. in 2000. Recently, I lived in Chicago for two years and enjoyed my sabbatical at the Univ. of Chicago.
In my spare time, I enjoy traveling and photography, diverse music, golf, running, college basketball (Michigan State and IU) and football (Ohio State and Cincinnati), technology, astronomy, politics and history, architecture (Pei, Wright), impressionism (Monet, Pissarro), and rollercoasters at Cedar Point. I enjoy spending time with my friends from summer camp and those in social psychology. Finally, I love good food and drink, whether it's over-the-top restaurants or great hole-in-the-wall dives. |
