Rhetorical Analysis of Stakeholder's/s' Positions & Arguments about the Public Issue

All public issues involve stakeholders, people who seek to participate in and shape the public discourse about an issue. Too often in our media, stakeholders are presented as being simply pro/con, when in actuality with almost all public issues, groups are invested who represent a wide range of positions and who argue from a wide variety of perspectives. To delve into the richness of public discussion, for this writing assignment you will chart the various stakeholders involved with the public issue you've been researching.

Looking back over your notes and sources, what are the different perspectives people have about the issue you are examining? For the different perspectives, who are some of the key groups/persons involved? What are their various positions on the issue? What arguments does each of these various groups use to try to sway others' to their views? Which of these stakeholders seem to have the most power and influence?

Please write several paragraphs examining different perspectives on your issue. Be sure to go beyond simple pro/con views to also look at some "in-between" views as well. These paragraphs should add up total to at least 1 and a half single-spaced pages. However, you may write them "journal-style" (i.e., do check spelling and such, but don't polish each sentence the way you would for a formal paper). What's important about this assignment is that you process the research you've done in preparation for writing your essay.
