Clubhouse Events
Sports Day
We love to play! Every spring Clubhouse hosts a sports day in the trailer park, just as another day the kids can come and play and continue to build relationships with the volunteers. This is also a chance for volunteers to meet the kids on their home terf, instead of always bringing them to OBF. It’s a fun day for everyone, and a chance for sports-oriented clubs or people at Miami to step into Clubhouse volunteering for a day. This year we are looking forward to teaming up with Miami's Optimist Club.

Easter Party
We are looking forward to our second Easter party this spring. At our inaugural event, we provided transportation for kids and families that need it. While waiting for the transportation van, we all got to play lots of games outside. We grilled hot dogs and had lunch meat sandwiches, plus tons of veggies and chips. Jared, the youth pastor at OBF, gave a short talk about why Clubhouse and OBF celebrate Easter, and Clubhouse families were invited to OBF’s Easter church service. Then, or course, the inevitable Egg Hunt! So. Much. Candy. We finished out the afternoon with relay races and games outside. We are happy this new event has turned into a Clubhouse tradition!
Late Night Party
Clubhouse is in the planning stages for a "late night lock in" for the kids. Boys will get to hang out with older guy volunteers, and the girls get to spend time with the female volunteers. We are planning it to be from 7-11 pm on a Friday or Saturday night, but are looking for feedback from parents and guardians about this. The party would include spaghetti, hot cocoa, games, prizes, and most importantly, examples and conversations about what it means to live like a Godly man or woman, led by the Miami student volunteers and potentially members of OBF. We want to start early in giving kids the tools to live as children of God, and what that looks like specifically as a boy or a girl. We can't wait to spend this time with the kids, and would love family/community feedback.
End of the Year Cookout
We close out the end of every school year with a cookout at the park in the trailer park. All the families are invited to come and hang out with their kids and volunteers, and it’s a chance for us to say goodbye until next year.
Christmas Party
Christmas 2009 brings new traditions to Clubhouse's celebrations. We hosted a Cookie Party at OBF for all the kids and families to hang out and munch on yummy treats. We are espcially grateful for a very talented acapella group from Miami called the Remnants to come sing for us.
Pumpkin Patch
Every fall Clubhouse takes a trip to the Wendell’s Pumpkin Patch in Indiana. We get lost in their corn maze and explore hands on farm learning exhibits. We meet all the animals they have, from pigs to goats to donkeys and geese. The best part is the hay ride out to the pumpkin patch when we spend plenty of time carefully picking out the perfect carving pumpkin (or, for some, the cutest one they can find!) We have a hot dog grill out after we get the pumpkins, and we get to hang out with Mr. and Mrs. Wendell, who are great people with big hearts. They even graciously gave us some winter clothes and accessories to help keep the kids warm! Check out their website at http://www.wendelfarms.com/
