Come out and support your local communities by biking, hiking or canoeing the Whitewater Canal Scenic Byway. Dates are Sept 11-25. The Presidential Pathways Scenic Byway highlights the lives of Presidents William Henry Harrison and Benjamin Harrison. Where did they live? Where did they campaign? What did they do? What did they see? The PPSB is located in western Hamilton and Butler Counties in Southwestern Ohio. The PPSB is a driving tour. You can join it anywhere along the route. Feel free to leave it anytime to: shop for antiques and unique gifts, eat at local restaurants, stay a night at a bed and breakfast, take a bike ride, or hike a trail to admire fossils, trees or plants in one of the many parks. See some of the sights and hear some of the sounds that these two Presidents saw and heard. Such as: The Cincinnati & Whitewater Canal, whose land was donated by William Henry Harrison. Visit Cleves and North Bend where the Harrison's first settled. Look for fossils in the creek beds and the sidewalk at Harrison's Tomb. See the wildlife at the many parks and preserves along the byway. or walk the streets of Oxford and Miami University where Benjamin Harrison attended college and courted his future wife, Caroline Scott, who attended the Oxford Female Institute located on Campus Ave in Oxford. CountyParks, President Harrison's Tomb and other historical sites plus small town beauty amidst rolling hills. Butler County Museums, a restored pre-Civil war community, and the arts are featured. Homes, built in the early 1800's, are still common along this scenic drive.
