As Engineering Librarian at Miami University, I perform many functions including collection development and management and instruction. I also provide reference and consulation services to students, staff, and faculty at Miami in person and via telephone and chat. I serve as the Science Library representative on the Library's Collection Development Cluster, and I serve as a member on the Science Library's student relations committee, Student Initiatives.

If you're doing research in any of the areas that I serve, visit Research By Subject . These pages, which I maintain, contain the pertinent resources in subject areas that I serve and up-to-date information about event and changes in the Libraries.

I serve as library liaison to the following departments:

Manufacturing and Mechanical Engineering
Electrical and Computing Engineering
Computer Science and Systems Analysis
Institute of Environmental Sciences

Some Examples of Projects That I Have Undertaken:

Fernald (Feed Materials Production Center) Pathfinder
Fernald is located about 20 miles SW of Miami University and was a vital facility within the US Nuclear Weapons Complex. Production began in the early 1950s, and resulted in considerable contamination. Cleanup of the site is expected to be completed by 2006. This pathfinder helps those familiar and unfamiliar with the topic to find information about the site. You can view the thesis here .

Smart Searching Tutorial: EAS 101
This tutorial is one step in my efforts to infuse information literacy into the Engineering curriculum (EAS 101 is a first-year course required for all Engineering and Computer Science students). This is a multo-person effort, including myself, the Life Sciences Librarian, and the Data Services Librarian. Keep in mind that the tutorial is not complete, as we are just completing the rest of the modules for it.

Follow The Silk Road....To The Science Library
This was the Science Library's orientation event for fall of 2005. For one afternoon, the library was transformed to resemble the ancient trading route known as the Silk Road. Visitors learned about library services and the Silk Road and had a good time as well. The link is to the blog that publicized the event. I served as coordinator of the working group for this event.
