What is Creative Teaching on the Web?
Creative teaching on the web is a project of the United States Institue for Theatre Technology's Education Commission.
The purpose of the creative teaching project is to provide all teachers in higher education with resources for teaching theatrical design and technology. Longtime USITT member Ron Stoffregen began the project as a response to a series of conference sessions on the topic of teaching creative problem solving skills conducted by John Harris, Jr. The project expanded under the leadership of Brian Jones into a clearinghouse of ideas on teaching and learning, but remains committed to sharing teaching tips and techniques that actively engage students with their own learning.
What's Here?
The central feature of this site is a collection of many classroom proven methods for teaching theatrical design and technology. Each entry has been juried through a process of blind peer review to uphold high standards of theatrical and educational practice. It is our hope that visitors to this site adapt rather than adopt what they find here. All of these ideas are freely shared for your benefit, but in order to make them work you should bend them to your own teaching style and needs. Also located here are links to other resources including a syllabus bank and sites supporting the teaching in higher education. Future developments may include a bank of model curricula.
