Comparative Physiology
We study the design
principles of vertebrate skeletal muscle, focusing on the ways that
muscle
metabolic plasticity functions to facilitate acclimation to changing
conditions.Muscle and Energy Metabolism Projects include work on: - Muscle Phenotypic Plasticity - Muscle Thermogenesis - Obesity, Diabetes and Exercise - Seasonal Energy Use - Evolution of Metabolic Capacity - Flight Muscle Energetics Collaborative research is an important component of our lab. Projects represent collaborations between faculty, technicians, postdocs and students (graduate and undergraduate). We encourage independent thinking, within the context of a cooperative atmosphere that fosters synergy among individuals. |
