FIELD #4

ASSIGNMENT #4: While we have not yet discussed Chapter 15, it deals with grading practices and how teachers report grades to students and their parents.  Try to interview two different teachers to see what they do with regard to determining grades for their students.

* How are the grades determined.
* What kind of a system of grading is used?
* Do they use multiple indicators (tests, projects, papers).
* Is their a building or system-wide system for maintaining and reporting grades..  If so please describe it?
* Do they use computers and special software to report the grades?
* How are the grades reported to the students and their parents?
* How often are grades reported?

Interview two teachers attempting to determine the various types of grading practices they use in their classrooms.  Again, please note the grade level and content area (domain) of the teachers. Write a short narrative (1 to 2 pages, single spaced lines) comparing and contrasting the two teachers assessment strategies.  Compare and contrast the two teachers' grading practices.  Look for similarities and differences between their responses.  Then, attempt to draw a personal conclusion that can also be related to the Linn/Miller (2004) text (Chapter 11-15).  PLEASE HAVE THIS POSTED IN OUR "ON-LINE-DISCUSSION" SITE BY THE END OF YOUR FOURTH WEEK IN THE FIELD, AND HAVE HARD COPY READY TO HAND IN WHEN YOU RETURN TO CLASS Tuesday March 21st.
