Summer 2006 and 2007

Several students (seven in 2006, nine in 2007) from Miami’s psychology department received support from APA PFF, University of New Hampshire and Miami’s CELT to participate in GRAD 980, an online seminar on Preparing to Teach a Psychology course. 

American Psychological Association carried out a survey of alumni from the four original sponsored programs.  Their results summary is posted here.

 

Fall 2004

Melissa Lea is the 2004 winner of the College of Arts and Sciences Distinguished Graduate Teaching Award. Melissa Lea took "Preparing to Teach a Psychology Course" taught by Jim Korn and Victor Benassi through the University of New Hampshire. Melissa says, "I gained the tools that I need to walk into the classroom feeling well prepared. … my teaching philosophy statement. .. provides a strong foundation for me to constantly evaluate my values and goals for the teaching of psychology."

  • June 22-24. Cluster members attended PFF working conference Boston MA. The Miami delegation included: Beth Uhler (MU-Middletown), Shannon Maxwell (MU-Hamilton), Jim Bodle (College of Mount St. Joseph), Diana Punzo (Earlham), Robin Bartlett (NKU), Sandy Neumann (MU-grad student), Patty Mills (MU-grad student). At the conference, two Miami delegates (Jim Bodle and Sandy Neumann) were on panels to facilitate discussion in break-out sessions on involvement of partner faculty, preparing students for service activities, and diversity.

  • August. Ayesha Shaikh, MU grad student and APA PFF scholar, participated in a panel at APA in San Francisco for graduate students titled " Preparing for Faculty Positions---What You Need to Know"
