In the following interviews with three college composition students, Sue Sipple asks them to explore the reasons behind their commentary preferences. All three interview subjects are students at a two-year branch of a state university. Students A and B are non-traditional students who returned to school after several years away from classroom instruction, while Student C is a traditional college student. All three subjects were enrolled in Sipple’s college composition classes, where they received audio commentary on some papers and written commentary on others. Their answers provide points of comparison and contrast between the two methods.
