This module will offer an introduction to concepts and theories underlying client-centered and experiential approaches to psychotherapy. The class will be student-centered; details of reading and writing for the course and the use of class time will be decided by class members. At the end of the module, I must turn in a grade that reflects your achievement in the module, including the quantity and quality of your reading, writing and thinking. We can discuss how best to accomplish this.
Readings
I have ordered two books for the module, representing the original formulation of client-centered therapy and a more recent perspective.
Rogers, C. R. (1961). On Becoming a Person. Boston: Mariner Books (Houghton-Mifflin).
Mearns, D., & Thorne, B. (2000) Person-centered therapy today: New frontiers in theory and practice. London: Sage.
I have also posted a list of readings related to client-centered therapy on my website at.
